Razia Shabnam Abidi is a famous Indian poet and writer born on 7 December 1943 in Bombay. She initially started writing stories under the pen name Rafia Shabnam Manchari. Manchar is the name of a small district where her father Shakir Manchari was a Mathematician, Marathi scholar and a teacher. Besides writing stories and poetry, she has contributed to translation and literary criticism. She served as an Urdu and Persian professor at the Bombay University. She has published four poetries, two novels, one short story collection, two critical essays, and two translations of poetry from Marathi and Persian.
