Shabbir Kumar was born on 26th October 1954 in Baroda, Bombay. His brother’s name is Moiz Shaikh. He was married to Mehtaab Shabbir Kumar. While growing up, his sang ‘Naath Qalam’ for him and his siblings, which attracted him to music. Also, whenever he used to hang out with friends, he used to sing Mohammed Rafi’s songs, for which he gained much appreciation from them. This also led him to take his passion for music seriously. Shabbir Kumar has sung in many languages like Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Marathi, Bengali, and many more. His accomplishments include over 34 Gold, 16 Platinum, and 1 Kohinoor Disc. Apart from that, he also got to do stage shows in the UAE, South Africa, USA, Europe, and many other countries. In 1981, he sang ‘Ek Akela Man Ka Panchi Tut AasLiye’- his first solo song for the film Sardar.

He was also selected as the singer for the song ‘Mubarak Ho Tum SabkoHaj Ka Mahina’ by the music composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Following his fame, he sang songs for films like Ghaath, Awara Paagal Deewana, and Aan: Men At Work. After this, he took a break from working and disappeared from the industry for a while.
