Shakeel Ladak was born in Hyderabad, and is the owner of Courtyard by Marriott, Pune. He is also the director of Redstone Group. He forayed into the field of a construction business. He is featured in the ‘10 Richest Husbands of Bollywood Actresses’ after he married Amrita Arora, an Indian film actress, and model. Shakeel Ladak was previously married to Nisha Rana, a girl from the royal family in Nepal. It was a clear case of sour grapes when Nisha Rana accused her classmate from college, Amrita Arora of stealing Shakeel Ladak from her. This controversy gained momentum when Nisha revealed that Amrita knew Shakeel even when he was married to her. Amrita’s close friend came to her rescue and cleared the rumors, saying that Shakeel and Amrita were dating for five months, which was long after the former and Nisha had applied for divorce.

Rumors about their wedding surfaced when Shakeel accompanied Amrita to the sets of Kambakkth Ishq in Los Angeles. The couple decided to take their bond to the next level by tying the knot in the most glamorous way possible in March, 2009. Rings had been exchanged, and vows delivered. It was a gala evening attended by Bollywood’s famous stars. Kareena Kapoor and Malaika Arora Khan graced the wedding and were Amrita’s bridesmaids. Since it was an inter-faith wedding, it was an amalgamation of the best wedding rituals of all the religions including vows and bridesmaids from Christianity, Nikah ceremony and the colour green dominating in their wedding outfits signifying the Muslim tradition, and not to forget, Mehendi ceremony and Sangeet from Amrita’s Punjabi background.

It was a star-studded evening as the sangeet was hosted by Salman Khan’s sister Alvira Agnihotri, and choreographed by Farah Khan. Shakeel and Amrita welcomed their son Azaan in 2010. Shakeel entered the hospitality business. The grand inauguration of the fancy five-star hotel took a step ahead when Kareena was asked to be the showstopper. The five-star hotel situated in Pune, screams luxury. It is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Pune. However, the hotel is meant only for business meetings and getaways. Shakeel Ladak, with his typical business wit, said that he wished to establish that five-star hotel as a choice destination for corporate travellers. Shakeel Ladak was clever in choosing Chakan as the site for his hotel, since a lot of industries were coming up in the Chakan Industrial belt. Shakeel became a father for the second time when Amrita gave birth to Rayaan in October 2012.
