Dr. S. Selvakumar

S. Selvakumar is the Computer Science and Engineering professor in Tiruchirappalli at National Institute of Technology. He got his degree in Engineering in Communication and Electronics from the University of Madurai Kamaraj which is in Madurai in 1983 and got distinction in that. He completed his postgraduation from Tiruchirappalli in a Regional Engineering College in 1987. In 1999, he got his Ph.D. degree from IIT Madras. From 1983, he is engaged in the profession of the teacher, and now at the department of computer science and engineering, he is teaching the college level students.

His teaching experience is of twenty- nine years while his experience in research is of nineteen years. He is interested in research into many areas like group communication in networks of high speed, networks of mobile, network computing, sensor networks which are wireless, etc. He has completed which amounts to be Rs. 21 lakhs. He is the part of the ongoing project as the co-investigator which amounts to Rs.1 crore and got sponsorship by NTRO situated in New Delhi.

In the current ongoing project, his contributions include - Use Classifiers ensemble for detecting the host intrusions, a model called Hybrid Hidden Markov to prevent attacks of traffic analysis which is a secured anonymous protocol based on a link level signature, etc. To have the interaction of academia and industry he conducted three seminars and workshops which were related to security of the network.

He is also engaged in securing the connectivity of the high-speed network in the campus of 10 Gbps during the tenure of Convener. He has published 66 research papers which include 29 published in the Journal of International, 3 in the National Journals and left 34 into conferences at National and International levels. He has guided the three degrees of Ph.D. Recently; he is guiding three scholars of Doctoral level research and three holders of M.S degree.

He has visited many universities.
