Sumrit Shahi is an Indian writer and screenwriter. He has written seven television shows for young people. These include Sadda Haq My Life, My Choice, which aired on Channel V India and won the Youth Show (Fiction) category at the 2014 Zee Gold Awards and the 2014 and 2015 Indian Telly Awards, as well as Million Dollar Girl Million Dollar Girl, Banaras to Paris. He is the author of three novels, Just Friends, A lot like love ... an Lí'l like chocolate, and Never Kiss Your Best Friend, which was adapted into a web series of the same title that aired on Zee5. At 17 he wrote his first novel Just Friends.

In 2015, he was selected by the Hindustan Times in the list of the top 30 young artists under 30 in the country and referred to as the “rock star of youth writing”. Sumrit Shahi's Just Friends was released in 2010 when he was seventeen years old and still in school. In October 2011 his second novel Much love ... a little like chocolate was published. In the summer of 2012, Sumrit started as a screenwriter for The Daily Post, Chandigarh, where she extensively covered celebrities, parties, and releases. In the months that followed, he also worked freelance for India Today as a business profile writer.

In 2013, he dived straight into television scriptwriting beginning with Sadda Haq My Life, My Choice, which airs on Channel V India. Previously, he also wrote the story for a Star Plus show called Ek Veer Ki Ardaas ... Veera. His third show, also a youth show called Million Dollar Girl: From Banaras to Paris, also aired on Channel V.
