Tony Deori Basumatary is a music director and a composer who works in the Bollywood industry. Tony was born in Guwahati. Due to his father’s transferable job, Tony and his family had to shift to various places including Tezpur, North Lakhimpur, Tangala and even Udalguri. It was in Tezpur where Tony completed his schooling. After finishing his school education, Tony moved back to Guwahati to complete his graduation.
Soon after graduating, Tony moved to Mumbai where he started looking for work in the music department. His first gig was actually a very small commercial about toilet cleaner. After a few years of struggle, Tony finally got his first big gig in the Marathi film industry. He made his debut on the movie Pune-52 as the music producer. In an interview Tony described how being a non-Marathi but working in a Marathi industry never really came in his way as the whole Marathi film industry and community have been so welcoming to him and his team. He would go on the compose music for many Marathi films, he also won a Jio Filmfare Award for his work on Lappachapi.
