Manju Asrani

Manju Asrani is a Bollywood supporting actress who acted even with Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Jurmana’ as a call girl. Manju Asrani was cast in this Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film that released in 1979, and she was appreciated a lot. Her character in this film ‘Jurmana’ had been handled with dignity and not vulgarly at all. Perhaps this is the best role for her career, and she was given an opportunity to showcase her acting skills. It had given her scope to perform and experiment. Earlier, Manju had acted in another film of Rajshree Productions ‘Tapasya’ where she played actor Asrani’s wife, and Asrani had played the brother of actress Rakhee Gulzar. In this film, she played a rich girl whose father allures a young, educated lad and makes him marry Asrani. Asrani is made a ‘ghar-jamai’ in this film. Manju portrayed the role with amazing restraint and conviction. This actress made her debut with the movie titled ‘Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar’ that hit the screens in 1973. She did the role as a supporting actress which had Radha Saluja, Asrani and Kiran Kumar in important roles. In this movie, Asrani played as Champak Boomia/Amit Desai and Manju played the role of Kesari Desai and for this role Asrani won Filmfare Award for Best Comedian. It is said that Asrani and Manju fell in love while shooting for this film and continued in their relationship till ‘Tapasya’ was released. Later, the couple acted in ‘Hum Nahin Suhhrenge’, a production of Asrani, which hit the silver screens in 1980. The actress got to play a supporting role in 1970’s and 80s’ and later quit acting abiding by her choices. In 1973, she also acted in another Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film ‘Namak Haram’ as Rama Pandey’s assistant. She also appeared in film likes ‘Deewaangee’, ’Chandi Sona’, and ‘Chor Siphaee’. Later Manju Asrani made her debut in TV series. She had directed three TV series to her credit. They are ‘Rishtey: Rang Di Chunaria’ (1995), ‘Maa Ki Mamta’ (1989) and ‘Bhoothnath’ (1989). Manju and Asrani have a son Naveen Asrani, who is a dentist by profession.

Mansee Deshmukh is an Indian Film and TelevisionActress. She was born and brought up in the metropolitan city of Mumbai, India. She completed her schooling from Sacred Heart High School which is in Vashi. She later did an Event Management course from her city Mumbai. Before entering the acting world and the Indian Film Industry, she worked in multiple event management companies. To try her hand in acting, before the silver screen, she started working in Indian Television. She played a negative role in Zee TV’s production Meri Doli Teri Angana. She made her Bollywood debut in a movie called Lottery in 2009. In the year 2010, she did a big screen drama Isi Life Mei which was produced under the banner of Rajshri. She was then seen in an Aamir Khan Production called Delhi Belly. After doing a couple of Bollywood movies like Boys Toh Boys Hai, etc., she ventured into Marathi Cinema where she did a film with Nana Patekar called Nanyachi Duni Baaju. She was also seen in a music album called Jaa Chudail. In Mansee’s first Bollywood movie, she played a supporting role while the lead actors were Rucha Gujrathi and Abhijeet. The film had a large ensemble cast with multiple lead actors. It was directed by Hemant Prabhu. Vidhi Kasliwal’s directorial project Isi Life Mein which releases in the year of 2010 was Mansee’s second venture in the Indian Cinema. Mansee plays the supporting role of Riya in the film. Akshay Oberoi and Sandeepa Dhar are the lead protagonists in the film. It is a typical romantic drama and revolves around the lines of a simple town girl going for higher studies to the metropolitan city Mumbai and falling in love with a guy that her family doesn’t approve. It then unfolds the struggle of the two to start a new life together and get their family’s permission. Mansee was seen in the Aamir Khan Productions film Delhi Belly in 2011. Written by Akshat Verma, it was a black comedy and was directed by Abhinay Deol. Originally released in English, it was dubbed in Hindi for mass consumption, and then a Tamil remake named Settai was made. The film also got an A certificate for its sexual content and profanity. Alongside the leads Imran Khan, Kunal Roy Kapoor and Vir Das, Mansee played a supporting character in the movie. She was a part of the popular song of the flick called Jaa Chudail.
