Laboni Sarkar is a very popular and talented Bengali actress. She made her acting debut in the film called ‘Nabarupa’ directed by Amol Roy which was released in 1992. Later she acted in many TV serials, telefilms and even hosted a reality show in TV channel. She has played a widowed mother in ‘Aloy Phera’ (2007) along with Victor Banerjee, Tapas Pal, and Rituparna Sengupta. Although Laboni played a leading lady role in her early stages of her career in Bengali cinema, she switched off to playing even character actress role in many movies. In the movie ‘Pita’ and 'Agneepath’ she had acted with veteran actor Alok Nath. She has acted maximum movies with actors like Abhishek Chatterjee and Ranjit Mallick.  In the year 1993, Laboni acted in a Bengali drama film ’Charachar’ directed by Buddhadev Dasgupta. This was based on a novel by Prafulla Roy for which she received Best Actress Award from Bengal Film Journalists’ Association (BFJA) for portraying the role of a wife of a bird catcher husband, Rajit Kapoor. She gets frustrated with her husband and in her distress, she embarks on an affair with the man who comes to collect birds to take them to market.  In 2005, Laboni acted in a film ‘Kalpurush’ directed by Buddhadev where she portrayed the character of Mithun Chakraborty’s wife. In Tapan Sinha’s film ‘Wheel Chair’, Laboni Sarkar had given a performance of a handicapped character and uses the wheelchair. She represented a young woman who was molested. Her character was similar to Tanuja’s role in apan Sinha’s another film ‘Adalat O Ekti Meye’. However,  Laboni received wide recognition for her role in Wheel Chair. She has acted even in an Odia film ‘Katha Deithili Maa Ku’ which was shot in abroad. Also, she also has acted in a Malayalam movie ‘Ponthan Mada’ (1994) which had Mammootty and Naseeruddin Shah in the cast. Laboni’s another classic movie was ‘Ami Shubhash Bolchi’ (2011) directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, starring Mithun Chakraborty and Saheb Bhattacharya.  Laboni appeared as a host on a game show in STAR Jalsha’s ‘Kanye Tui Megastar’. She was born on October 25, 1962, in Kolkata.



Madhubala is regarded as the Venus of Indian cinema. She is an epitome of beauty. Her phenomenal beauty, natural grace, talent and sensuality are till unexplainable. Though her fascinating persona that portrayed all the joie de vivre character was truly short-lived, she caught the attention of Hollywood and even Oscar-award winning filmmaker Frank Capra, who came to Bombay to meet her, but she did not even meet him at all. She was born fifth as Mumtaz Jehan in a family of 13 members, and when her father lost his job, she along with his father used to knock at every studio in Bombay to get a break in film. Her family faced a lot of hardships and even Madhubala’s three sisters, and two brothers died at the age of five and six. Hence, she had no other option but eventually become an actress. Her father Ataullah Khan was an instrumental in Madhubala’s career and kept strict control over her. He even imposed 7 pm deadline for the actress to return home after shooting. Her father was also seen breaking a relationship with Dilip Kumar. According to renowned Muslim clergy, she was destined to become rich, but died at a very young. She was totally under coma and bed-ridden for many years and died at an age of 36. Madhubala made her debut as a child artist and after the success of Mahal with Ashok Kumar, she became the most-sought after actress in Hindi cinema. Kamal Amrohi is a powerful name in Indian cinema for his excellent effort as director-writer for the classic ‘Mahal’. The film gave super stardom to Madhubala and even Lata Mangeshkar (song "Aayega Aane Waala"). She could convincingly play a comedy, romantic and tragedy role with ease. She acted with all leading top actors like Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Ashok Kumar, Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar and Bharat Bhushan. Her initial releases were flops but ‘Mahal’ was a turning point in her career. This film ran for one year in a cinema house in Kolkata and was equally success in another territory including Pakistan. It is said Dilip Kumar fell in love with her on sets of their film ‘Tarana’ and even openly declared love for her in an open courtroom, but her father’s disapproval irked Dilip so much that he went to say that he would love Madhubala till she dies. Although Madhubala and Dilip Kumar acted in an epic movie ‘ Mughal-E-Azam’ but they did not speak with each other on the set and had never said ‘hello’ to each other. As a professional star, they acted together, and the film became hit because audiences were curious to see Dilip Kumar and Madhubala in the same frame even in personal life too. After this film, Dilip Kumar and Madhubala never appeared together. She is notable for her iconic performances in films like ‘Amar’, ‘Mr & Mrs. 55’, ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’, ‘Howrah Bridge’, and ‘Barsaat Ki Ek Raat’. After Dilip Kumar had made an exit from her personal life, she had a romance with Kishore Kumar, and they married, but yet she had led an unhappy life. This beauty was born in Delhi on February 14, 1933, Delhi, and had died on February 23, 1969.
