Anvita Gupta is an Indian cinematographer and actress who has worked extensively in the Hindi film and television industry. She has scripted, directed, and acted in several short films, TV, shows and feature films. Anvita was raised in a family that was based in the Indian Navy. Growing up, she did a fair deal of traveling while also training in different sports and arts. She learned to paint, dance, swim and sing, all hobbies that she continued pursuing later in her life. Anvita moved to Singapore, where she graduated with an Arts degree in the Communications course. Her initial work in media was at an advertising firm. There she took up amateur theatrical acting while focusing on her main professional role in journalism.

Eventually, in 2009, her passion for cinematic work led her to leave her thriving career and move to Mumbai as an actress. She participated in several prominent courses such as the Meisner Technique, Michael Chekov & The Extended Voice, and Lee Strasberg's Method Acting for overall development in her skills. Anvita joined Bollywood studios as an Assistant Director and showcased her talents with movies like ‘Wabi Sabi (2015)’ and ‘Old Man One Day (2016).’ During this time, she was also scripting several shorts and television shows like ‘What's Wrong With Me? (2017).’ Her on-screen appearance in the Amazon Prime web series ‘Paatal Lok’ as Pratima, and ‘Four More Shots Please’ as Vany Bhat, made her very popular with the Indian audience. Her acting had also previously won several awards at film festivals. She received the ‘Best Actress’ award in the 2015 film ‘Guilt’ at the 48 Hour Film Project in Singapore.

At the Calcutta Film Festival in 2018, she received ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for the movie ‘Tashi.’ Besides acting, she has done voice-overs in podcasts and shows like ‘Theory of Her.’ She has also been featured in various commercial advertisements. Anvita is a staunch supporter of several activist movements; she has created several video shorts in support of body positivity and health awareness.
