Ayesha Dharker was born in Mumbai but raised in the United Kingdom is a British Indian actress. Born on 16th March 1978 she has appeared in many Hollywood films throughout her career. She is the daughter of Anil and Imtiaz Dharker; her mother is a poet and documentary filmmaker.Â
She made her film debut at the age of 11 in the French film Manika: Une vie plus tard. In 1992 she played Om Puri's daughter in Hollywood's film City of Joy. The movie looked at modern India and how poverty has affected it. In 1998 she made her Bollywood debut in Saaz. Which many believe is based on the relationship of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.Â
Ayesha received her first award at the Cairo International Film Festival for Best Artistic Contribution by an Actress for the role of Malli in The Terrorist. She was praised for her acting ability in the movie which centered on her as a terrorist sent to target a leader in South Asia with a suicide bomb. In 2002 she was featured in the sci-fi hit Star Wars: Episode II - Attach of the Clones as Queen Jamillia. She continues to act in Hollywood on a range of films.
Along with the big screen Ayesha has had a career in television also. She was a part of the UK hit drama Coronation Street in 2008 along with BBC America's Doctor Who. In 2010, she married her British boyfriend Robert Taylor.
