Anjali Rajgopal is a model, actress, and an entrepreneur. Born in Lucknow, she is a Tamilian. Her father was an IPS for ten years and had been transferred to Lucknow for some period during which Anjali was born. He later began his own business in the apparel industry. Anjali completed her schooling from Sishya School, Chennai mainly in Commerce, Accounting, and Economics. Then for higher education decided to go to U.K. Foreign environment and studies have helped her with touché PR. However, 2002 brought her academic journey to a crippling halt, as she had a critical car accident while traveling to Bangalore from Chennai.
It was so critical that no hospitals in India were able to take the case. Due to the accident, she had lost the vision in her left eye and was continuously losing her right eye as well. It did not stop there. She had also developed meningitis and cerebrospinal fluid leaks, which created a high risk of infection. Still, her family was not able to find any hospital which would take the case. Later, in May her father found the Rush Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago that took the case. It took her three long years to recover and be finally discharged from the hospital. Even after this incident, she completed her graduation from the University Of Chicago, U.S.
Then, she worked in the U.S. for some time before returning to India in 2008. In 2008-2009, she was the PR head at the Indian Terrain, overseeing the brand’s value and importance in the media and online. She then branched out into the full-fledged media career and hosted ‘Super Shopper’ which is a lifestyle show on NDTV-HINDU. She also wrote a column for the Deccan Chronicle and was a host on the radio channel Chennai Live 104.8 FM.
Later, she again went for professional studies at the Business School at the University of New York Click to look into! >> Read More... and did M.S. in public relations and corporate communication. Anjali then worked in New York City for a PR agency titled Finn Partners. She then researched the PR industry in India and the opportunities available in the industry. This helped her in deciding on starting her enterprise in India. Speaking about the future goals she has said that she wants to reach the Forbes List of 40 under 40.
To achieve this, she has decided to start promoting a trauma counseling center/program which focuses on grief, loss, identity crisis, shame, and other such emotional traumas. She has also decided to write a book as well as to start an NGO that will support the cause. She has also made plans to tour more to give speeches which would support the same cause. During leisure, Anjali enjoys traveling, watching regional films, swimming, and watching the NFL.
