His mother Kiran Bala Sachdev is an actress who became famous by playing the role of Baby Tabassum in Mera Suhaag movie that was released in 1947. Later she had a successful career as a host in Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan that was a first television show of India. His cousins are Sonika Govil and Amal Govil.

Hoshang started his short film career by acting in Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh that was released in 1992. The movie Tum Par Hum Qurbaan was released on 18th October 1985 and Hoshang played the lead role in this film.
