Firoz Dastur also is known as Feroze Dastur was an Indian film actor/classical vocalist who was born on September 30th,1919. He hailed from the Kirana Gharana (singing style). Firoz worked in the Indian movie industry in the 1930s, appearing in a few films by Wadia Movietone and others. In 1933, when Wadia Movietone under the supervision of JBH Wadia, released its first talkie film, he sang classical songs as a child actor in film Lal-e-Yaman. His first love was Indian classical music.
He was a student of Sawai Gandharva Ramachandra Kundgolkar Saunshi, popularly known as >> Read More... , whose other students were Bhimsen Joshi Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi was born on 4th February 192 >> Read More... and Gangubai. He was a regular performer at Sawai Gandharva Music Festival for many years, till his late 80s. Firoz's music was very similar to Abdul Karim Khan's style. He taught classical music to many students. Firoz took his last breath on May 2008 in Mumbai, after a brief illness.
