Markand Adhikari is a media pioneer who was born on 26^th August. Markand is the son of Navnital Adhikari and Sharda Navnital Adhikari. Their production banner had created a lot of TV series that gained critical acclaim.

In 1992, he created the content for Zee TV and was credited as one of the first content creators for that channel. His SAB TV, founded in 2000, is one among the leading broadcasters that produce high-quality content, especially humor-oriented. It is the most viewed comedy channel. SAB group was the first organization to create content for TV Asia, the overseas Hindi channel. Markand Adhikari set a strong base for the SAB group in foraying into the broadcasting sector, content production, movie production, movie distribution, digital platform, VFX Studios, news arms and current affairs. Besides SAB, Markand’s group runs channels, including Dabangg, Mastiii and Maiboli. Governance Now is the digital platform run by the successful entrepreneur, Markand. Through this, they address the issues related to governance. SAB group is the first media organization listed on the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange.

Besides movie production and managing news sectors, Markand produces web series for various digital platforms. Markand Adhikari started a social initiative, Hunnar Initiative, during the Covid-19 pandemic, as per Atma Nirbhar Bharat by the Indian Government. This initiative is meant to help the migrants earn a livelihood. Those needy migrants showcased their talents like dancing, singing, acting, mimicry and painting through this initiative. Their videos are posted on the SAB Group's Channels and the selected entrants are given the monetary benefit. It is to be noted that Markand’s group transferred the prize money directly to the winners’ bank accounts.

Markand Adhikari is married to Kaanchan Adhikari and the couple has a son, Kailashnath Adhikari. Kailashnath Adhikari did his schooling at Jamunabai Narsee School in Mumbai. He continued his higher education at the London School of Economics. He is a double postgraduate in accounting. Adhikari had worked in the Planning Commission of India. Kailashnath Adhikari is the MD of Governance Now.
