He was born on 14 October 1932 in the village near Gujranwala, British Punjab. He knows different languages like Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi. Sardar mostly does his writings very well in these three languages. Sardar Pancchi was his pen name. When he was seventeen years old, India was partitioned then Sardar along with his family migrated to India. He started his career by writing famous albums of the film Ek Chadar Maili Si in 1986 and Waaris in 1988. After that, he has written several songs for Bollywood movies also. While improving his writing for several films, he also started writing his books.

Sardar has written seven famous books in Punjabi, nine books in Urdu, and two in Hindi. Some of his renowned books in all three languages were Mazdoor Ki Awaz, Savley Suraj, Suraj Ki Sakhe, Shivranjnani, Nakash-E-Kadam, Gulistan-E-Aquidat, Panchhi Dee Parvaz, and many more. The year 2016 turned out to be a fabulous year for Sardar, as he was honored with Lok Shayar Award at Avatar Jandialvi Memorial Awards held at Chandigarh on 16 October 2016. These awards were given to renowned writers every year by the managing team of Punjabi Literary Magazine called Hun. He shares one of his hilarious incidents with us that he performs in emergency lights due to an unfortunate electricity cut in All India Mushaira organized by an NGO and Ministry of Culture at Harpal Tiwani Auditorium.
