Aah Sitapuri, aka Safdar, is a poet, film director, cum author, born on 28th August 1905. He was born and brought up in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. In 1919, he started writing when he was 14. His writings were published in journals and newspapers. In 1928, he started publishing his Urdu weekly. Aah is proficient in Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Sanskrit, and English. In the 1940s, he started writing lyrics in Hindi movies. He wrote lyrics for Garib, Alibaba, Bahan, Nai Roshni, and Roti, directed by Mehbooba. In 1945, he wrote the story, songs and dialogue for Pehli Nazar, a film which introduced playback singer Mukesh.
Aah wrote the story and dialogue for Prarthana, 1857, and Omar Khayyam. He directed the film Bhookh in 1947. The film featured Husna,

He has been writing lyrics until 1962. His last film was Mehboob’s directorial venture, Son Of India. He penned the dialogue for the film and quit his film career. Then, he started publishing books. On 29th July 1980, he passed away in Ganeshpuri.
