Stalin K is an Editor, Documentary filmmaker, and Social Activist. Stalin was born in Pune and grew up in Gujarat. Stalin graduated in Development Communication in Ahmedabad. In 2013, Stalin co-founded the community media initiative Video Volunteers. Stalin is the co-founder and president of the Community Radio Forum of India. Stalin launched Indiaunheard, the world’s first-ever Community News Feature Service, in 2010. Stalin is known for the films India Untouched (2007) and Lesser Humans (1998), which were about the issues of caste and untouchability; with these films, Stalin documented caste discrimination against Dalit Communities throughout India, and won numerous film awards for these films.

Stalin made documentary films on Human Rights issues like Kali Kem Mari (1992), Ek Poltlun Beek Nu (1992), Basti Se Basti Tak (1993), Jungle Amaru Tantra Tamaru (1994), Ta Talati No Ta (1994), Kalavar Mat (1995), Gam Nathi Koi Paanchu Nu (1996), Patta Patta Akshar Hoga (1999), Aftermath of the cyclone in Kutch (1999), Gujarat- A Work in Progress (2002), and Our Water, Our Future (2005). Stalin K, as a Social Activist, designed more than 20 events, and campaigns on Human Rights Issues like Cricket for Peace, Games4change, Asia Social Forum, etc. Stalin, as a Visiting Lecturer, taught the use of media for empowerment and workshops on development communications at Universities and NGOs like the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Centre for Development Communication, and Boston University.

For the film India Untouched (2007), Stalin received awards like Silver Dhow at the Zanzibar International Film Festival 2008, Golden Conch at the Mumbai International Film Festival 2008, Best Film of the Festival at the Mumbai International Film Festival 2008, Best Documentary at Mahindra IAAC Film Festival 2007, and Best Film at One Billion Eyes Film Festival 2007 in Chennai. And for the film Lesser Human (1993), Stalin received awards like Excellence Award at Earth Vision Film Festival 1999, Best Film at the New Delhi video FEstival 1999, Silver Conch at the 5th Mumbai International Film Festival 1998, and Special Mention at Amnesty International Film Festival 1998.
