Vikram Dasgupta

Vikram Dasgupta is an Indian Writer, Director, and Producer who predominantly works in the Hindi film industry. He is also known by the name Bikram Dasgupta. Vikram Dasgupta was born in 1977 in the capital city of New Delhi. He comes from a family of artists, musicians, dancers, and scientists. However, it was his grandmother’s gift for storytelling that inspired him to become a filmmaker. Vikram Dasgupta completed his schooling till twelfth grade at Cambridge School. After that he received his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts form the University of Calcutta and graduated with a specialization in Design and Commercial Art.

Vikram Dasgupta attended the Government College of Arts in Calcutta, where he created a short drama documentary called 'InSanity,' depicting the life of a homeless artist on the streets of Calcutta. This work earned him acceptance into the Film program at Sheridan College, Canada, in 2001. Graduating with a Major in Fine Arts, he received an honors scholarship and a Gold Medal for outstanding achievement in Art & Design. Once he graduated, Vikram Dasgupta then did a course in Advance Film and TV at Sheridan College in order to learn Editing and Cinematography. 

Throughout his career, Vikram has served as a creative director and director in Film and TV, collaborating with Indian musical genius AR Rahman of ' Slumdog Millionaire Click to look into! >> Read More... ' fame on multiple occasions. After graduating, he worked as senior designer at City TV for a brief period. In 2009, Vikram Dasgupta directed and released the film ‘Bouma.’ His next film 'Calcutta Taxi’ (2012), was funded by CTV's Bravofact and the National Film Board of Canada. The film was written, directed, and produced by Vikram Dasgupta himself and was well received by critics and the public alike. It received multiple awards across the industry and was considered for the Academy Awards 2014 in the Short Narrative Drama Category.

The film also won the Jury Award for Best Drama at the Aspen Shortsfest. Another one of Vikram Dasgupta’s most notable achievements is the nomination of his commercial 'Parapan Am Games: Are You Ready?’ (2015) for the Pan Am/ Parapan Am TO2015 at Cannes Lions 2015 in the Film Entertainment and Leisure category. In 2004, Vikram Dasgupta founded Pixel Palette Inc., a design studio specializing in storytelling through live-action production, motion graphics, visual effects, and animation.
