Upamanyu Bhattacharyya is an Indian animator who has worked on several films, short films and TV series. He received his education from the National Institute of Design where he presently works as a member of the visiting faculty. Upamanyu began his career in 2015 by working as an animator to create the title sequence for the film, ‘ OK Kanmani Story Coming Soon >> Read More... ’. He would go on to work at Madras Talkies as a pre-production artist for a period of one year. In 2018, he worked for the team of animators who created the title sequence for the TV series, ‘Die Trying’. He also worked on a Spanish animated short film, ‘Lursaguak’ as an animator. In 2020, he continued to use his animating skills in the short films, ‘Mother’ and ‘Farishton’, the latter of which was directed by renowned Indian musical artist, A. R. Rahman.
In the same year, Upamanyu was the co-director and co-writer along with Kalp Sanghvi Kalp Sanghvi is a Sydney-based animation filmmaker >> Read More... for the animated short film, ‘Wade’, which was a post-apocalyptic story about climate change set in Kolkata. The film was his directorial debut and it received many accolades from numerous film festivals around the world. Upamanyu and his team were also able to raise around 1.5 lakh rupees which were to be donated to NGOs in Kolkata that worked for the welfare of children. Upamanyu is also an employee of the company, Ghost Animation.
