Umesh Aggarwal is an Indian director and documentary filmmaker. He is also the founder of News & Entertainment Television (NET). He finished his school education at Harcourt Butler School, New Delhi. After that, Umesh Aggarwal took his Bachelor’s degree at Delhi University. In 1985, Umesh Aggarwal began working in the Indian Television Industry. He learned my craft on the job. In 1991, he began writing, reporting, and directing television news and other shows and films. In 1994, he launched "News and Entertainment Television" (NET), a television software & film production house. During the last twenty-five years, NET has produced over four thousand hours of television software. NET's official YouTube Channel named "o2india" was launched on August 15, 2021. It began with “Rahman Music Sheets,” a series celebrating thirty years of AR Rahman in film music.
Umesh Aggarwal worked as a writer & director in the biography documentary “Jai Ho” in 2015. The documentary was screened at "The White House, Washington DC," "IFFLA (Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, USA)," “Film Festival of Stuttgart, Germany,” “San Francisco Film Festival,” “Toronto International Film Festival,” “Indian Film Festival, Sydney,” “Special Screening at O2, London,” and many others. His other documentaries include "Underground Inferno" (National Geographic Channel), "India's Moon Mission" (Discovery Channel), "Divided Colors of a Nation" (Ford Foundation), "Brokering News" (Prasar Bharati & PSBT), “Dew & Dew Drop” (Ford Foundation), and many others. He has worked in many entertainment shows & TV campaigns, such as Bharat Meri Pehchaan, Pritish Nandy Show, Spot Light, Humsafar, Toon Talk, Mumbai Talkies, Utsav, Namaskar, Observer Screen Awards, and many others.

He earned several awards such as the National Award for "The Whistle Blowers" best documentary of the Year (2007), Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism for "Brokering News" (2014), Gold Medal as the Best Documentary for "Annadata-Food For Thought” at the IDPA awards 2011, Best Film “Underground Inferno” Eco Film Festival in Athens, Greece (2010), Best Environment Film Award “Underground Inferno” IFFI 08, Goa (2009), Vatavaran Film award for “The Whistle Blowers” for best editing (2007), Indian Television Academy Award for “Kiran,” a daily show DD (2005, 2002), and many others.
