Sisir Kumar Sahu is an Indian director and film editor from Odisha. He was born on June 11, 1988, in Keonjhar, Odisha and brought up by the Rengali dam site in Angul. He completed schooling at Rengali Project High School and graduated from the Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute of India. He started his career as an assistant editor in Samvidhaan: The Making of the Constitution of India (2014), produced for and aired on Rajya Sabha TV. His directorial debut came with the short film Farchaa (2017). The film was nominated at Mumbai Film Festival and Kolkata International Film Festival and was the Perfect 10 Winner at the former. He directed Rajo (2017), a documentary about Odia cultural traditions and festivals to celebrate menstruation. His short film Swahaa (2019) was nominated at the Delhi International Film Festival, followed by Charitra (2020), Hubris (2021), Daalcheeni (2022), A Cup of Monsoon (2022), and Phalguna Chaitra (2023).
Hubris (2021) and Dalcheeni (2022) received nominations at the Jaipur International Film Festival. The latter won the award for Best Romantic Film as well. Phalguna Charitra was released on May 12, 2023, and became the first Odia film to be released globally. Sahu’s most recent project is Malyagiri, created alongside Peenakee Singh.
