Ridham Janve is an Indian cinematographer who has worked on several independent short films. He is best known for the award-winning movie, ‘The Gold-Laden Sheep and The Sacred Mountain.’ Ridham graduated from the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. He worked on several short films like ‘Major Ka Farewell (2010),’ ‘Prataha Smaran (2011),’ and ‘Kanche Aur Postcard (2013).’ He represented India at the SAARC film festival in Colombo with the short, ‘Kanche Aur Postcard’ and was selected to appear at the International film festival of India.
He joined ‘Dark Matter Pictures’ as a writer and director and shot his debut film, ‘The Gold-Laden Sheep and The Sacred Mountain’ or ‘Sona Dhwandi Bhed Te Suchha Pahadunder’ under their banner. The movie received a lot of critical acclaim for its beautiful storyline and cinematography. Ridham chose all his main characters in the film to be played by the local shepherds to preserve the simple background of the story. The movie was screened at dozens of film festivals internationally, and it won the ‘Young Cinema Award’ at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, ‘FIPRESCI Prize’ at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and the ‘Silver Gateway of India’ at the Mumbai Film Festival. He continues to take on freelance projects as a director and visual artist.
