Prem Sagar started his career as a supporting actor way back in 1959. He made his debut as a press reporter on the film Fashionable Wife. Similarly, Prem started appearing as an extra in numerous movies at the time. Apart from acting, Prem’s father was already a prominent director and hence Prem got to work on several filmd that his father directed. Prem would also develop a taste of direction and cinematography by working on different movie sets. In 1968, Prem worked as the assistant cameraman on the movie Ankhen. He was the cinematographer on movies like Lalkar, Jalte Badan and Ram Bharose. In 1987, came Prem’s biggest contribution to Indian TV history. Prem’s father, Ramanand Sagar created the superhit TV serial Ramayan, and Prem worked throughout on that serial.

He held many responsibilities like handling camera, scouting locations, animations, cinematography and even managing the people on set. .In a recent interview on Kapil Sharma Kapil Sharma was born in a small town of Amritsa >> Read More... show, Prem told a story about how once during the shooting days of Ramayan, he went six days without eating anything just to find the technique of shooting the perfect sequence. The action sequence was about a duel fight with bow and arrows, and due to the lack of technology at that time, the creators of the show had to come up with a unique way of finding the best way to shoot the sequence.

Prem used the technique of a lazer projector which was highly rare and unique method at that time. For this, he closed himself in a room with computers and projectors for six days, with no food. On the sixth day when he got out, he fainted in front of all the cast and crew and his father. Upon coming back to his senses, Ramanand Sagar, his father praised him and let him know that this was the perfect way to shoot the sequence. Prem has won many awards and recognitions for his amazing work in the field of TV creation, he is regarded as one of the 100 most influential TV personalities in Indian history. He also wrote a book about his father, which was a best-seller.
