Hindi Director Mazahir Rahim

Mazahir Rahim was born in 1949. Rahim is a multi-talented personality who has directed serials, music videos, award-winning documentaries and featurettes, journalism and served as an editor for a newspaper. Mazahir began his career as a journalist for prominent news daily in Pune, Maharashtra. He received training in the Czech Republic for multi-screen film productions. He wrote a column for The Current, published by D.F. Karaka in Bombay, called PINT SIZE THIS WEEK. He enrolled in the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, where he received three years of training as a scriptwriter and director. He moved to Bollywood in 1970 and began directing short films. OPERATION 100, his debut film, was about the Bombay Police. His second film was about the women who work in the Police department. In 1983, he received a double nomination at the Karlovy Vary Festival for This Is India and Mughal Gardens. He directed and scripted approximately 80 documentaries in the Films Division. Mazahir took the plunge into Serials with his debut Direction and Production serial - Aur Bhi Hain Raahen (1986) for D.D., satisfied with the honors and acclaim he had garnered in Documentaries. This 19-part series was a smash hit, acclaimed as a new standard and trendsetter in women's issue television. His works include Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai (1986) for DD, Chakravyuh (1995), which is based on the suffering of coal miners, and Nawab Buta (1998), which is centered on the battle between the past and the modern. He was the one who produced and directed the film.

Mazahir has also directed music videos for Merica/Thakral Entertainment and HMV, among others. He recently finished a feature film for CFSI called Ladli. In addition, he wrote the Dialogues and worked as an Associate Director on the feature film.  He co-wrote and produced the feature film MANGO DREAMS in 2015. Arizona International Film Festival, MAMI INDIA, Full Bloom Film Festival, and CEBU International Film Festival have all given this film honors. The film has been screened at numerous festivals across the world, including the Reel Asia Film Festival in the United Kingdom, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in India, and the Kolkata International Film Festival in India. Mazahir moved to Canada in 2007 and has since directed five short films. In Toronto, he also teaches a filmmaking course through CRAZY CREATIVES. Under his guidance, three films are created, and the fourth batch of the Bootcamp is currently in progress.

Mazahir is also a writer and script consultant for Thoughtlab Pictures in Toronto, where he worked on the online series INVISIBLE ME and the feature THIS IS NOT A LOVE POEM. He's finished filming the Alphan Pictures short film NOT FOR SALE.  In partnership with Street Relief Productions, he also produced, edited, and directed the short film SISTERS and edited and directed COURTNEY & CHESTER for Bill Sleno. He worked in INVICTUS, a short film with Dr. Jagmohan Sangha, and a feature film with Aileen McConville and Kamal Bindra.
