Krishnendu Bose is a versatile Indian filmmaker who doesn’t restrict himself to a particular genre. He has produced and directed documentaries on Ecology and Conservation, Community Struggles, Gender Politics, Reality shows, and more. Krishnendu Bose is from Delhi. After completing his schooling at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School in Delhi, he joined Hindu College University of Delhi and pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1980. Krishnendu Bose always aspired to become a filmmaker, but Krishnendu Bose felt he needed some time to gather his thoughts. So, in 1983, he did his Master’s in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. Krishnendu Bose is married to Madhurima Sen Bose, and they have two children. In 1990, Krishnendu Bose founded Earthcare Productions Private Limited.
Since then, he has been directing and producing quality films and documentaries for over thirty years. His works, Revolution and After (1992) focuses on the economic costs of the green revolution, The Good Earth (1993) reviews sustainable agricultural practices in the country, Harvesting Hunger (2000) shows the life of people who couldn’t afford the basic nutritional requirements, There is a Fire in Your Forest represents us a wildlife photojournalist’s perspective of the Kanha Tiger reserve and his understanding of conservation, etc. In 2007, Krishnendu Bose made the documentary called Tiger – The Death Chronicles, which presents the reason why there is a rapid decrease in the number of tigers in India. From citizens to scientists to conservationists, the movie brings out the voice of everyone.
The documentary received several accolades including, The Best Conservation film at the International Wildlife Festival at Missoula, and Best Camera Award at International Wildlife Festival, China. The Forgotten Tigers in 2014, Krishnendu Bose’s second documentary on tigers, explains the shrinking of homes of the tiger and how they manage to live without a habitat. The Forgotten Tigers also bagged several National and International awards. In 2016, he directed and produced the film The Tiger Who Crossed The Line. The movie results from four years of hard work of Krishnendu Bose and his team. In recognition of his job, he received the National Award for the Best Environment Film at the 64th National Film Awards The National Film Awards gets presented every year >> Read More... . His project, Heroes of the Wild Frontiers, centers on the forest guards and frontline staff at the forest. Krishnendu Bose’s movies Missing, World in her Hands, Dance with Hands Held Tight focuses on the lives of rural women.
At the same time Khet Chorab Nahi, Jal Tarang, Jarhar Diary, and Colours of the Earth focus on Community Struggles. Besides, many of his films notify about Ecology and conservation, urban environment, and more. He has also been associated with the biggest Television reality show, The Amazing Race. In 2009, Krishnendu Bose received the CMS – UNEP Prithvi Ratna Award, the highest honor for a filmmaker in the field of environment.
