Dilip Shankar

Dilip Shankar was born on 29th October 1970 in New Delhi. Dilip is an actor, director, screenwriter, editor, and a casting director. Shankar was the owner of Red Candy Films and Suyash Films international for a year. He produced and co-produced four films under the banner. He also had a business of hosting foreign film crews for shooting in India. Dilip portrayed various roles in different plays as an actor and theatre artist in Delhi Theatre scene. He played the role of Raju Guide in Sanjoy Roy’s adaption of RK Narayan’s Guide, Cassio in Roysten Abel’s black and white play; William Shakespeare adaption of Othello, Jawahar Lal Nehru in Pramila Le Hunte’s Nehru-His Inner Story. Shankar has worked under the directions of different famous and recognized directors such as Abhilash Pillai, Bertina Johnson, BV Karanath and Anamika Haksar. As a part of Delhi Theatre scene, Shankar directed various theatre shows and managed to write 36 theatre acts. Dilip was an Associate Director alongside Pan Nilan for a documentary-feature on Kumbh Mela for Faith Connections. The film was showcased at Toronto Film Festival 2013 and received positive reviews from both audiences and its critics. He was also the line producer for three movies directed by Pan Nilan- Samsara, Ayurveda-Art of Being and Valley of flowers. Dilip has worked with some of the world’s most recognized and talented directors. Dilip himself is one of the most recognized casting directors in the industry and is known for bringing out sensational talents out. Dilip hs casted in some of the famous films like-The Little Terrorist directed by Ashwin Kumar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Delhi 6 by Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, The Darjeeling Limited by Wes Anderson, The Valley of Flowers by Pan Nilan, Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding and The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Life of Pie by Ang Lee, Mike Cahil’s I Origins and Florian Gallenberger’s Shadow of Time. Dilip also writes poetry and is the Founder and Secretary of Karmic Research Centre and The Centre for Creative Expressions, India. Shankar also worked in The Kingdom of Dreams from the year 2010 to 2012 as the Show Running Director for play Zangoora-The Gypsy Prince. He also worked as a writer for the film The Angry Indian Goddess under the production of Pan Nalin and Gaurav Dhingra. The film got released in October 2015.
