Not being a product of nepotism, Junaid Khalifa has worked his way to become the writer/director that he is today. He started as a background dancer and an assistant director, slowly paving his way to make his very own feature film, ‘Uribo.’ Uribo is an independent micro-budget film that is based in the northeastern part of the country.
The narrative revolves around a mother and her daughter, who leave their intoxicated family behind. The film has been screened at various festivals and has won the hearts of critics. Junaid has always been a realist, with his vision being to show people the harsh truth of the society through his films and documentaries.
He has won many awards for his documentary ‘Mohammed Ali Road, Mumbai,’ where he captures the true essence of Mumbai’s iconic Mohammed Ali Road. Since the age of seventeen, Junaid had always aimed at making films. He draws his inspiration from his father, an artist who dedicated his life to photography.
In his early days in the show biz, he had worked as a dance choreographer and gave many hits. With time and sheer hard work, he started making documentaries, short films and even feature films. Today, he has established his very own production project called ‘Osu Films’.
