Ivan Ayr

Ivan Ayr is an Indian film director, editor, writer, producer, and casting director who mainly works in the Hindi film industry. He was raised and grew up in northern India. He spent his childhood in many cities across north India. His nationality is Indian. Then, his parents decided to make Chandigarh their home. After completing his studies, he went to the United States for his post-graduate studies. He took education in English Literature at Canada College in Redwood after receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Later, Ivan Ayr studied Screenwriting & Film direction at San Francisco Film Society. There he directed and wrote his debut short film, “Lost and Found,” as a eulogy to his stolen bicycle in 2014.

Ivan Ayr worked as the director, editor, writer, and producer of his second short titled “Quest for a Different Outcome” in 2015. The short has won the Best Film at the San Jose Short Film Festival. The following year, he directed and produced a short titled “The Perfect Candidate” in 2016. Ivan Ayr’s feature directorial debut “Soni” was in post-production in 2018. The film was one of the five films selected by India’s National Film Development Corporation to become a part of the prestigious ‘Work in Progress’ Lab at Film Bazaar 2017. It was mentored by Jacques Cornets, a French editor and veteran festival director Marco Mueller. Also, his directorial debut “Soni” competed for the Horizon’s Award at the 75^th Venice International Film Festival, the Sutherland Prize at the BFI London Film Festival, and received the Roberto Rossellini Award at the Pingyao International Film Festival. In 2018, he also received a Jury Award in Achievement in Direction at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Brisbane, Australia.
