Geetha Jayaraman, also known as Geetha J, is an author, producer, and director. Geetha has over ten years of experience in India's print and visual media. Since 2003, she has worked as a freelance director and producer in India and London. She has expertise in the direction of feature films, documentaries, and experimental shorts. She works in the Indian Cinema, Music, and Dance industries. Geetha joined the first independent woman's groups in Kerala, India, as one of its founding members after developing a strong interest in women's concerns. She started in the media as a journalist before transitioning to television as a producer and presenter and writing as a film critic.

Her debut television documentary, the (A)Miss World, which examined the conflicts of opinions and problems surrounding the Miss World pageant in India in 1996, was widely praised by critics. At the beginning of Geetha's debut documentary, Inside the Kalari, she worked with multi-award-winning director Ian McDonald (2007). She won awards in the international industry for her Grierson Award-nominated 2012 feature documentary Algorithms, which was about young blind Indian chess players. Since then, their films have been screened at film festivals, galleries, academic conferences, political conventions, and theatres. Films by Geetha and Ian tackle the political and the personal, startling audiences with their uncommon visual richness, original perspective, and humane handling of the material.

Geetha worked as the director and writer of Short Films like About Nostalgia under the production of AkamPuram in 2007, Woman with a Video Camera in 2005, Akam and Insider in 2007, Algorithms in 2013, Justin, Out of Our Hands, Shame, Brighton Bandits, The Relevance of Shantaram - a note on the UK Shantaram, The Marginalisation of Romance, Women's Day in 1997, Marta Meszaros and Run Kalyani in 2019. She produced short films like Seascapes in 2014, Who is Europe in 2019, Freedom- the Radical Legacy of Martin Luther King in 2017, Algorithms in 2013, and Old Man. AkamPuram is an independent production company that Geetha established.

It has produced a notable roster of documentaries, experimental shorts, and hybrid works. Her debut feature screenplay, A Certain Slant of Light, was awarded the Film Development Grant by the Goteborg International Film Festival. This was chosen for the 2014 Directors' Lab of the NFDC. She wrote the final phase of the Film Bazaar. Her first fiction feature, Run Kalyani (2019), took part in several international film festivals and received nine honors.
