Chandrasekhar Reddy

Chandrasekhar Reddy is an Indian film writer, director and producer. He has directed chiefly Kannada films and also produced some famous documentaries. He was born in 1983 in Bangalore, Karnataka. Reddy found his passion in filmmaking from an early age. He graduated in 2004 from the Film and Television Institute of India with a degree in Film studies and Directing. After graduation, he started working on various projects. He began as an assistant director and assistant editor and eventually made his debut film. Reddy also directed some prominent documentary films. He directed the documentary short Coalboy: Mind the Gap (2012). The short story focuses on the life of a boy working in a coalmine in the Jaintia Hills of North-East India. He then directed another long documentary, Fireflies in the Abyss (2015). It is about the same theme of the struggles of the people working in a coal mine of the Jaintia Hills of North-East India. The film earned a few critical responses. Later, he directed the documentary The Great Indian Election (2019). Renowned news media company NDTV produced this documentary. For contributing a brilliant work in the Kannada film industry, he earned multiple awards and nominations. He earned two Karnataka State Film Awards for Best Director for his films Aa Dinagalu and Yajamana.
