B.S. Thapa

BS Thapa was a Hindi director, who was born in Dehradun on 3^rd July 1923. He is of Nepali origin. Most of his family members worked in the army. He completed his schooling at DAV Intercollege. Then, he moved to Lucknow to pursue an LLB degree. While staying in Lucknow, he participated in radio plays. Then, he moved to theater. In those days, the Indian Government offered a scholarship to the actors and Chetan Anand asked him to get the scholarship to get an offer to work with him.

In 1949, he shifted to Mumbai. In 1950, Chetan Anand made a movie, Afasar, and Thapa joined as an apprentice. In 1957, he played in Anjali and Arpan. In 1963, he played in Kinare Kinare. SS Vasan, the South Indian producer of Gemini Studio, requested Thapa to guide his writers in Chennai. Jaidev, the music composer of Kinare Kinare developed a good relationship with Thapa.
