Amitabh Aurora is a film director who predominantly works in Hindi and Swahili, the official language of Tanzania, language movies. Apart from being a film director, he is also an artist, producer, and writer, who has worked in several television serials and short films. Amitabh Aurora was born on the 11th of June 1981 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He went to St.Amtul Public School and Maharishi Patanjali Vidya Mandir. In 2003, he concluded his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Application from C.C.S. University, Institute of Management Studies in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Upon completing his studies, Amitabh moved to New Delhi and worked as a theatre artist for four years. He associated with New Delhi Players and the Yatrik Theatre Group. With the dream of becoming an actor, he shifted his base to Mumbai in 2008. Amitabh essayed the role of Yash in the soap opera Astitva….Ek Prem Kahani and as Vicky in Woh Hue Na Humaare. He joined the UTV New Media group and worked as an associate sales manager for various UTV owned web, TV, and mobile platforms. In 2009, he moved to Tanzania, a country in East Africa. In Tanzania, he worked as a Business Head for Pili Pili Entertainment and collaborated with ad agencies, corporate, and TV channels. He wrote and directed his first independent feature-length film, Usaliti in2010. He also shot a documentary on public awareness for the National government of Tanzania.

Following Usaliti, he wrote and directed the Swahili feature film Glamour: The Reality behind the Dream in 2011 for ZG Films. This film accounts for being the first high-quality Bongo movie. The movie describes the dreams and aspirations of a young Zanzibari girl of becoming an actor. In 2012, he wrote and directed two Swahili films, Black Magic and Room number 13. They screened both his films at the Zanzibar International Film Festival along with his other feature film, Glamour. He has also directed a documentary for a music festival in Tanzania.

Amitabh Aurora returned to India in 2012 and worked as the creative producer and writer for Picture Thoughts Production. Amitabh Aurora founded the production house HCMF Productions in 2016 to promote cross-cultural filmmaking.
