Hindi cinema has undergone a great change in the past few decades and fashion designing is also undergoing a great facelift. The fashion designers and stylists think in a very innovative manner and come up with an entirely new look for Bollywood flicks. Now let’s take the film
Main Hoon Na. Apart from the direction of
Farah Khan, the beautiful choreography and peppy songs, it’s the costume designing that garnered the attention of the audiences.
Amrita Arora had a completely new look with the costume designing of Sanjeev Mulchandani.
The IIFA award ceremony, which gives the award to an artist who has given excellent costume designs for the flick’s actors, didn’t fail to recognize the talent of Sanjeev Mulchandani; he got the award along with
Karan Johar and
Manish Malhotra at the function in 2008 for the same flick Main Hoon Na.
Sanjeev Mulchandani, along with Manish Malhotra, had a good rapport for
Om Shanti Om and produced timeless costume designing.
When asked about style Sanjeev revealed that it is a personal choice. Also he is very down-to-earth when he says that one has to rely on the mirror rather than looking at magazines or celebrities for developing one’s fashion sense. And Sanjeev likes traditional dressing of women.
Apart from Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om (these two movies were directed by choreographer Farah Khan) Mulchandani had also worked in Dus Kahaaniyan as costume designer. This flick was released in 2007. And he is also associated with
Quick Gun Murugun, an Indian action Western flick. It hit the screens in 2009 and was known for its flashy costumes.
