KS Krishnamurthy was a music composer born in December 1921. He was born in Kallidaikurichi in the Tirunelveli district but lived in Calcutta for several years. He was recognized as KSK. He did his schooling at the Hindu High School in Triplicane, Madras, India. One of his teachers was G V Narayanaswamy Iyer, father of G N Balasubramanyam. Probably it was that institution that ignited KSK's music. Even then, his idea was to study mathematics. Still, he shifted to music when Tiger Varadachariar, the leading faculty member of the music college of Annamalai University, urged him to do so. KSK obtained the Sangeeta Bhooshanam diploma program from Annamalai University. Some of his teachers are Tiger Varadachariar, Tanjavur Ponniah Pillai, Madurai Subramanya Iyer, and Sattur Krishna Iyengar.
