Bhai Chhaila, born in Tarn Taran, a city in Punjab, on December 13, 1895, belonged to the lineage of Tarn Taran rababis. He spent an ample amount of time in Patiala, because of which he was known as Bhai Chhhaila Patiala. He is a Hindi composer who is famous for his songs and ghazals. He has also released shabads and dharmic geets. He is an accomplished singer who was also well-versed in playing the rabab. Due to partition, he had to migrate to Peshawar. He used to play rabab at Radio Pakistan for some years. He died on July 10, 1983. “Hum Ghar Sajan Aye”, “Via Hoa Mera Babla”, “Gyan Anjan Gur Diya”, ‘Suno Benanti Thakur Mere”, ‘Awoh Sajna Houn Dekha”, “Mai Gur Charni Chit Laiye”, and “Aje Vi Trishna Arhi Rahi” are some of his beautiful compositions.
