Aloknath Dey is known to have worked in the music department in the Indian film industry for a long time. Initially, he started as a music instrument player in the music industry and worked his way up the ladder. His first job in the music industry was to play flute for the song in a critically acclaimed movie by one of the most celebrated Indian filmmakers Satyajit Ray’s; Pather Panchali, in 1955. He also worked as a background music artist on another one of Satyajit Ray’s; films named Aparajito in 1956. Later he went on to work on many film songs.
