Sonal Mansingh

Sonal Mansingh is a renowned Indian Classical dancer, trainer, Guru, and a motivational speaker. Sonal Mansingh is known for her excellence in Hindustani classical dance forms like Bharatnatyam and Odissi. Mansingh was born on the 30th of April in the year 1944. She was born during the British Era in India. Her place of birth is Bombay. Sonal was born to her parents Arvind and mother Poornima. Sonal has a degree of Bachelors of Art in German literature. She did her graduation from Elphinstone College.

Sonal Mansingh developed a liking for dance when she was a kid. When Sonal was four years old, she began with her training in the Manipuri dance form. Later, when she grew up and turned seven, she started learning Bharatnatyam. She also has a degree in Sanskrit from the Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan. Sonal has also made significant contributions to the field of dance. Sonal is the founder of the Centre for Indian Classical Dances situated in New Delhi.

She is adorned with the alluring and prestigious awards like Padma Vibhushan, Sangeet NatakAkademi Award, Padma Bhushan, Kalidas Samman. To celebrate her more than forty years of excellence in the field of dance, a short film cum documentary titled Sonal was made and also won the title of the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film. Some of her choreographies are like Draupadi, Indradhanush, Panchkanya, Devi Duga, and many more. After making a scintillating career in the field of dance, she tried her luck in politics. She got the honor to become the Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, nominated by the President of India.
