Vijay Tomar

Vijay Tomar is a Mumbai-based Indian cinematographer. He has been in this career for over seven years in many web series, documentaries, music videos, Television and Web Commercials, and a Feature Film. His first Feature Film – Vilom, was screened at the Cannes – Marche Du Film - Film Festival 2020 online and released in the USA by TLA Releasing USA. This Feature Film also had its German Premier at the B3 Biennale of Moving Image Frankfurt and its Indian Premier at the I View World Human Rights Film Festival, India (2020).

He studied BA Honors in History from Hansraj College and MA History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and he started imagining visuals in history books during his studies and got involved with the photography department. He also did his master’s in mass communication/ Media Studies from Jamia Mass Communication Research Center. He was more interested in the Photography field. In his sophomore year, he focused on the cinematography field to build a career.

Since 2016, he worked as a Cinematographer in Mumbai.

He knows languages like Hindi, English, and Assamese. He is also a part of Organizations such as the National Rifle Association of India since 2002 and the Western India Cinematographer Association since 2015. His life mantra is to always believe in yourself. Besides cinematography, Vijay likes to travel because it provides opportunities to meet different people, their cul-tures, spaces, and realities. His favorite travel destination is Europe.
