Álvaro Gutiérrez is a cinematographer and director of photography born in 1973 in Seville, Spain. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey, which he completed between 1995 and 1999. He had started working for NBC in New York City, but in 2000, after a year of working there, he left to go back to Spain. In Spain, he started working for cameraman Néstor Calvo on several feature films and commercials as an assistant and also worked as a cinematographer for several short films and music videos. His first full-length film as head cameraman was “Bajo las Estrellas,” which he started filming in 2005 and for which he was nominated for the Goya (Spanish Film Academy award) for best cinematography in 2008. Since then, he has worked with eminent directors such as Álvaro Brechner, Diego Lerman, Jorge Dorado, and Beatriz Sanchis. Álvaro's works include " Killing Eve Killing Eve is a British Tv serial. He is the winner of Best Cinematographer in the Uruguayan Film Critics Awards for “Mr. Kaplan” and “Bad Day to Go Fishing.” In 2006, he again won the Best Cinematography award for “Straw Men” at the Strasbourg Film Festival.
