Muckatira Gautham Machaiah is a hard-working Indian journalist and corporate professional. He was born on 23 April in Kodagu, Karnataka. He attended the St Joseph’s Covent School, Mercara in, Coorg. After that, he studied at Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala, Mysore. For his junior college, he went to the Government PU College, Madikeri. For his graduation, he went to Maharaja’s College, Mysore, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in journalism, economics, and political science. He also holds a post-graduate degree in journalism and communications. Gautham received his Ph.D. from Mysore University for his thesis ‘Media Habits of Legislators: A Case Study of Karnataka MLAs and MLCs’.
When he was pursuing his post-graduate degree, his first article was published by The Indian Express on the scarcity of drinking water in his hometown, Mercara. Muckatira worked with the Indian Express for a very long time, he was an intern for two months at The Indian Express, New Delhi, where he worked with Arun Shourie Arun Shourie is an Indian politician. Later, Gautham joined the Zee Network (south) as the Vice President and played a very significant role in establishing the three regional channels of the group- Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu.Â
Being such a successful person, Gautham is often invited as a guest lecturer at prestigious universities and institutions. He is on the Advisory Council of Bangalore university (department of Electronics, media studies), Ramaiah Institute of Management, and Sikkim Manipal University. Gautham’s dedication and commitment to his work are evident in his mindset to uncover the truth regardless of any personal risk. Later in his career, Gautham, joined The Times of India, where he played a crucial role in re-launching and reviving the Bangalore edition of The Times of India.Â
