Sudarshan Dheer

Sudharshan Dheer is an Indian Author and Graphic Designer, who is popularly known as the Grandmaster of Corporate Communication in India. He had established an identity for many well-known companies. He had contributed to this discipline for almost 50 years, leaving a remarkable mark in his expertise. He was born in 1937 in Punjab, India. He had completed his diploma in Fine Arts Painting and Graphic designing. After completing his diploma, he worked for various advertising agencies in Bombay. His passion for painting started when he was only in the seventh grade when he used to stare at the paintings of the painter from Lahore. His father was a jeweller and he curiously observed how they designed the jewellery. When he was in 9th standard, he started taking orders for cinema banners used to decorate the cinema halls. After Matriculation, he moved to Mumbai to join the Sir J.J School of Arts. He faced a lot of financial struggles, where he used to do a part-time job at Brilliant Studio in Dadar, along with his studies .

He had changed a few jobs and landed as an Art Director in Mass Communication and Marketing. In 1974, he established Graphic Communication Concepts Design Studio to take up various corporate identity jobs. His first and most successful project was with the company Hindustan Petroleum, where the company was seeking a new identity. His logo for HP is one of his prominent works , which symbolizes the sprut of oil energy coming out of the earth. His work has been featured over 50 international publications and won over 40 awards for his dedicated works. Rather than Hindustan Petroleum, he created logo for various famous companies like Titan and Kissan. He was a regular visiting faculty and external jury for various graduation projects held at the National Institute of Design, India. On 6 April 2018, he passed away, inspiring many graphic designers in India. His work and dedication will continue to inspire for many generations.
