Sharma was born in New Delhi and raised in Sitamarhi, where he spent his childhood with his grandparents and attended N.S. DAV Public School for his primary schooling. In 2014, he returned to New Delhi to pursue his Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication at Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University. He graduated from Langara College with a Post Degree Diploma in Business Administration in 2016.
Sharma began his career as an intern at JIMS Radio 90.4 MHz, NDTV, Business Standard, and India Today Group, among other news organizations. He was initially a journalist, but his interests shifted to writing when he completed his internships. At19, he produced his first textbook, "Design and Graphics Redefined," in 2011. He published "Photography Redefined" in 2013. Abhigyan Prakash published his book "Development and Communication Morphosis" at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2014. Sharma's young adult fiction work “Gone are the Days” was published in 2016. He finished writing this book within ten months. Sharma then wrote "The Indian Story of an Author," a creative nonfiction book, in July 2018. This book is seen as a symbolic protest because it was written after Gaurav's novel, "God of the Sullied," was rejected by many publishers.
Gaurav's historical fiction novel "God of the Sullied" was published by New Delhi-based Think Tank Books in September 2018 and after which he became an Amazon India bestseller. Gaurav has written three textbooks on journalism and mass communication before writing “Gone Are the Days”.
He now resides in Canada as a permanent resident.
