Venita Coelho is an Indian writer, artist, director, and activist. She’s associated with television, and she is known for her work in children’s literature. Venita was born in Dehra Dun, Uttrakhand, India, in 1966. She completed her schooling at Loreto Day School, Kolkata and graduated from St. Xavier’s College. Later, she moved to Mumbai, and from Sophia College for Women, she did her diploma in social communications media. She wrote and directed her first television series, which is "Head Over Heels", in 1987.

Venita has been part of television for over a  decade. She began her career with UTV in the DD era. She worked as a writer, producer, and director in the industry. In 2003, she wrote daily soap " Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin This show aired in India on 1 September 2003 bring >> Read More... ", which was an adaption of "Yo soy Betty, la fea". Other than this, her writing includes "Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha", "Avishkar", "Amma and Family", "Jungli Toofan Tyre Puncture", and the award-winning show "Trikaal".

Venita wrote Idaman for Malaysian television. She contributed to the television of Singapore, which includes, the telefilm " Angel Click to look into! >> Read More... ", the series “Rojak”, “Bold and Bollywood”, “Anything Goes”, “Rehai” and some others. She co-wrote the screenplay of “ Musafir Click to look into! >> Read More... ” and Karan Johar's adaption of “ We Are Family Click to look into! >> Read More... ”. Due to the domination of the same kind of Saas-Bahu content on the television, Venita decided to move on, then she went to Goa with her daughter, four dogs, and two cats and made her home there.

Venita published her first book in 2007, and now she is the author of seven published books which includes Dungeon Tales, Tiger By The Tail, The Washer of the Dead, “Monkey See, Monkey Do”, Boy no. 32, and award-winning book Dead as Dodo, which won The Hindu/ Good reads Award for Best Fiction for Children in 2016. Also, she has written many articles/ columns for different news companies, mostly related to social causes. About being an artist, she held her first exhibition in 2010 in Goa, titled “The Naked Gaze.” She’s been Vice President, Fiction Content at Nimbus and Endemol, Vice President, New Product Development at Sony Entertainment, and Creative head at Cinevistaas Ltd.
