Samimitra Das is an Indian assistant director. He studied film at Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Calcutta. Before joining the film school, he worked at the theatre and as an assistant director in Mumbai. Samimitra has worked for more than six years in the industry after completing Film school. He got introduced to the film industry by assisting in films and later became an associate director. As an assistant director, he has worked on Dilip Ghosh’s Commando - A One Man Army and Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera. He has also directed some short films like- Yari Road, Sheher Se Shikayat, Between the Rains, and a documentary- My Armenian Neighbourhood(2010).
The documentary film My Armenian Neighbourhood got presented to the Armenian community in Calcutta on the occurrence of the Armenian Genocide. He has worked in TVCs as a Creative consultant and an Associate director including-, Boroplus, Savlon, Maruti Suzuki, and Central.
