Vikram Chandra

Vikram Chandra (Born: January 1967) is the NDTV Group’s executive director and CEO. He is, as called by many, among the leading journalists of India today. Vikram's name as a journalist was made while working on the Kashmir conflict. Nandini Chandra, Vikram Chandra's mother, was a journalist for The Hindustan Times.

As a student of The Doon School, he edited The Doon School Weekly. Chandra obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He received Inlaks Scholarship, which led him to his studies at Oxford. He also studied at Stanford University for a three-month mass media for a three-month course. His wife is Seema Chandra. Chandra’s career in television started with a TV news magazine named News track in 1991.

He has been working with New Delhi Television Limited since the year 1994. During this period, his works include the prime time 9 O’clock News, Gadget Guru, which was a show that analyzes about new technologies. However, he gained his fame when he was awarded for his anchoring on India's highest rated talk show The Big Fight. As the anchor of this show, Chandra’s interviewee list includes King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Bill Gates, Shimon Peres, and Rupert Murdoch.

Chandra was chosen for launching head of NDTV Profit, the English language venture of NDTV. As an author, Chandra's first fiction work, a thriller The Srinagar Conspiracy became a best seller. This book was published in 2000. In 2007, the World Economic Forum in Davos selected him as a ‘Young Global Leader’ and offered him the designation ‘Global Leader for Tomorrow’.
