Bhagwan Kare

Lata Bhagwan Kare is from the village in Baramati district of Maharashtra. She is known as a marathon runner. In 2014, at the age of 65 she participated in a marathon race and won the first prize. Her husband was ill and she did not have money. She participated in the race to earn money for her husband’s medical treatment. Her husband is Bhagwan and they have three daughters and a son. Bhagwan worked as a security guard while Lata earned by working in people’s fields. It was in 2014 when her husband fell ill and he had to get an MRI done. As she did not have the money for it, the villagers asked her to run in the marathon. She signed up for it and ran the race. She kept running barefoot even though her slippers broke halfway. After Lata won the race, she treated her husband with the money she earned. After this race, she was inspired to participate in several other races and has won many shields and prizes.
