Ila Arab Mehta is a Gujarati novelist and story writer born on 16th June 1938 in Bombay, India. Her father, Gunvantrai Acharya Gunvantrai Popatbhai Acharya, also known as Gunvan >> Read More... , was a Gujarati writer. She completed her studies in Jamnagar, Rajkot and Mumbai. She also did BA in Gujarati in 1958 from Ramnarain Ruia College and MA in 1960. She is married to Arab Mehta. She was a professor at Ruia College (1960-1967) and St. Xavier's College, Mumbai (1970-2000). She was also working as a writer for the magazines Akhand Anand, Navneet and Stree Jeevan.

Jaherkhabarno Manas (1985), and Shabne Naam Hotu Nathi (1981). Ek Cigarette Ek Dhupsali (1981), Viena-Woods (1989), Bhagyarekha (1995), Balavo Balvi Balvu (1998), Yom Kippur (2006). Ila Arab Mehtano Varta Vaibhav (2009) is her notable story collection. She has received awards from Gujarat Sahitya Academy, Maharashtra Gujarati Sahitya Academy, and Gujarati Sahitya Parishad.
