Dolly Johur

Dolly Johur was born on 17th July 1953 in Bangladesh. She is an eminent Bangladeshi film, television, and stage actress. Her brother urged her to start a career in acting and took her out for different acting jobs then. She attended the University of Dhaka, and after that, she got involved in her acting career, especially in theatre. During her time doing theatre, she got enrolled at Natyachakra and Chhayanaut. Johur got the much-needed breakthrough by performing the character Nilu in the drama serial Ei Shob Din Ratri by Humayun Ahmed.

Apart from this, she also acted in other movies like Shonkhonil Karagar, Aguner Poroshmoni, Nirontor, and Ghani. Along with this, she has also performed in different stage dramas, like Noashal and Shesher Ratri. Due to these performances, she became the face of various television channels like Maasranga Television, ATN Bangla, and BTV. In the year 1976, she got married to another prolific actor, Johurul Islam, and together they have a son named Riasat. Due to her immense contribution to Bangladeshi cinema and television, she was awarded Bangladesh National Film Award for Lifetime Achievement in the year 2021. Apart from this, she also received Bangladesh National Film Awards 2 times, as Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Even after giving more than 35 years to Bangladeshi cinema, she is still going strong and working on her upcoming projects.
