Sourav Banerjee is an Indian television actor and playback singer. He predominantly works in the Bengali entertainment industry. His best works include “Agantuk (1992)” and “Mistake (2013).” He also acted in the movie “The Stranger,” released in 1991. Sourav, the grandson of actor Tarunkumar, belonged to a family of renowned actors. At an early age, he pressured himself to maintain the legacy of his grandfather.
He never received any formal training in acting throughout his life.
initially guided his career and encouraged him to take lessons from Tarun's films. He later married an actress, Twarita Chatterjee. They had a typical Bengali wedding. Twarita featured as “Sardar’s mother” in Zee Bangla's prime show “Karunamayi Rani Rashmoni.”
Sourav debuted as a protagonist in the movie “Bicycle Kick” directed by newcomer Debasish Sen Sharma. Moti Nandi's sports literature inspired the film. Debasish chose Sourav for the central role of “Rubayet” because of his innocence and excellent acting skills. He was highly impressed with his work in “Patalghar.” The movie includes several football scenes directed by debutant Anilabha Chatterjee. Sourav nailed his character with superb expressions. Even though he is not a professional footballer, he portrayed the role with perfection.
