Sunil Gangopadhyay is an Indian poet who worked in the Bengali language. He was born on 7th September 1934 in Faridpur, Bengal Presidency, British India, now in Bangladesh. Sunil was also the former Sheriff of Calcutta. He completed his master’s degree from the University of Calcutta. Krittibas was a Bengali poetry magazine that was started by his friends in 1953.
He received several awards like The Hindu Literary Prize, Saraswati Samaan, Ananda Purushkar, Bankim Puruskar, and Sahitya Academy Awards. Some of the famous novels and poetry in which he worked are Hathat Nirar Janya, Pagol Kota, Sonali Dukkho, Kothay Alo, Aakash Paatal.
